Placement
To enhance your catch rate place the trap in a shaded area and approximately 500mm above ground level.
Never place the trap close to people or pets. Mosquitoes will be drawn to the trap. If you are near the trap they will be attracted to the trap & you.
Locate the trap near where mosquitoes rest (trees, shrubs, tall grass) keeping in mind the aim is to draw the mosquitoes away from you and to the trap. (Most people know where most of the mosquitoes rest & breed)
The direction of prevailing winds should be considered when choosing a site as mosquitoes sense their prey from downwind.
When installing on undulating land using carbon dioxide place the trap above the suspected resting or breeding sites the gas will fall and drift downhill and attract the mosquitoes to the trap.
When using carbon dioxide place the gas cylinder in the shade and where it will not be knocked or tripped over.
